Private-Pay Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Providing detailed images of the body.

CAMIS offers private MRIs to those wanting to pay to have a personal copy of their report and images, as well as increased scheduling options.

Why Get a Private-Pay MRI?

If receiving your MRI results is time-sensitive, private-pay MRIs allow you to get in sooner, typically within 2 business days. You will also receive a copy of the report and your images, which is especially useful if you plan on going to a specialist or other provider for related procedures.

Understanding Magnetic Resonance Imaging

MRI is a type of diagnostic imaging that uses magnetic fields, not radiation, to obtain high resolution, three-dimensional images of any area of the body. It is considered to be the most effective form of imaging for musculoskeletal structures, muscles, the brain, and the spinal cord.

At CAMIS, we do not perform whole body screening MRI.

What is the Cost of a Private-Pay MRI?

The starting price is $725. The price is determined based on the body part being photographed and whether or not contrast imaging is required.

FAQs

We perform most MRI examinations, (including MR arthrography and cardiac), with the exception of temporomandibular joints, perfusion studies and breast.

Our table weight limit is 550lbs, which is 200lbs greater than most MRI systems.

We use a high field, open bore magnet. High field means it has a magnetic field strength of 1.5 Tesla (higher field strength means better image quality). Open bore means the opening in the magnet is larger, 10 cm larger, than traditional MRI systems, translating into more room and comfort in the magnet.

Yes. CAMIS does offer a private pay option for MRI services. Please call 403-755-1060 for more information.

Yes. Our system is designed to alleviate feelings of claustrophobia. The magnet is only 3 ½ feet deep resulting in 60% of examinations being performed with your head outside the magnet, reducing feelings of claustrophobia.
